About Us - Who Are We?

Located in the beautiful Middle Tennessee County of Rutherford, sits the home one of the bloodiest conflicts of the Civil War, the Battle of Stone's River and 371 Films. With more than 20 years combined experience, producers Kevin & Sarah Hayes bring a unique combination of style and knowledge to the film industry. 371 Films began as a sister company to New Direction Productions in the summer of 2009. Whereas NDP focuses on production of promotional and demonstration videos for corporate and non-corporate entities, 371 Films primary focus is in the production of motion picture films and music videos. 371 Films has over 5 films in the writing and pre-production phases. We are presented with screenplays from talented writers nation-wide and are working with several to see their dream come true.Whether you're a writer, investor, filmmaker, producer, crew, or actor, we're always adding to our list of talent.

371 Films has a vision and passion for the film industry from the thought and pre-production to distribution stages. With our pool of talent from producers and directors to crew and talent, there is no angle that we aren't prepared for. When we're presented with the proposal for a project (whether it's a film or music video), we begin by laying out all the options. With our experience in the industry and capable talent that is made available to us, there is no project too small or too big that we can not accomplish.

So what is DIGITAL films?

Digital Filmmaking
This is the process of capturing motion pictures as digital images, rather than on common 35mm film. Digital capture can occur on tape, hard disks, flash memory, or other media which can record digital data. As digital technology has improved, this practice has become increasingly common. Many mainstream Hollywood movies now are shot partly or fully digitally such as Jumper, Night at the Museum II, The Book of Eli, and District 9.

HD in Filmmaking
Film as a medium has inherent limitations, such as difficulty of viewing footage whilst recording, and suffers other problems, caused by poor film development/processing, or poor monitoring systems. Given that there is increasing use of computer-generated or computer-altered imagery in movies, and that editing picture sequences is often done digitally, most directors choose to shoot their movies using the HD format - the preferred method at 371 Films.

Why use the word films if shooting in digital format?
The word film is simply a recognizable term used for movies. If we're shooting a film, we're stating the known fact that we're filming a movie. The same goes for shooting a music video - we're filming a music video.
